Registered Dietitian

Nicole (Niki) Chen, RD, LDN (She/her)

Niki is a Registered Dietitian with a clinical background which includes providing medical nutrition therapy with a specialization in critical care and nutrition support at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences and completed a dietetic internship at the University of Rhode Island.
 
After taking time off to focus on raising two wonderful kids, she spent 6 years helping to nurture young minds at a local preschool. This rewarding time was spent teaching children social skills and cognitive development through play. Niki has returned to the field of nutrition with the intention of helping people achieve their health goals while finding pleasure and satisfaction in food.

Andrea Ackerson, MPH, RD, IBCLC

Andrea is a Registered Dietitian with over 20 years of experience providing medical nutrition therapy across the lifespan—from pediatrics to older adults—in a variety of healthcare settings. In addition to her nutrition experience, she is a Lactation Consultant who has supported mothers in achieving their breastfeeding goals.

For the past decade, Andrea has shared her passion for nutrition and health as an instructor at the community college level, where she enjoys mentoring and engaging with students in the academic environment.

Andrea earned her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Sciences from the University of Vermont and completed her Dietetic Internship in South Dakota. She later pursued a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), further expanding her skills in community and population health.

She values the breadth of the nutrition field and finds great fulfillment in helping clients make meaningful, evidence-based changes to improve their well-being. Outside of her professional life, Andrea is the proud mother of two daughters and enjoys running, playing volleyball, and coaching her children’s swim team.

   Hi! I’m Julia, a compassionate and creative registered dietitian dedicated to helping you reach your goals and feel at home in your body. I’m passionate about delivering personalized medical nutrition therapy that is weight-inclusive, trauma-informed, and neurodiversity-affirming, so you can feel supported, empowered, and nourished every step of the way. I believe nutrition should feel supportive, flexible, and freeing—not stressful or restrictive. My approach is rooted in intuitive eating and the "all foods fit" philosophy, which means no food is off-limits and all choices have a place in a balanced life. Together, we’ll work on tuning in to your body’s natural cues, finding more joy and satisfaction in eating, and creating habits that truly align with your lifestyle. I can’t wait to support you in living a pleasurable, aligned, and nourished life through small, sustainable shifts.

How it works

Introduction Call

These calls are available if we need to chat for 15 minutes to make sure we're a good fit.

This introduction call is completely free and gives you a chance to ask questions.

Initial Session

If we move forward, your first session will be a thorough 90-minute assessment where we really get to know your history, concerns, and goals.

From there, we'll develop a personalized approach that works for your life.

Where are sessions

We offer both virtual and in-person sessions at our Providence and Cranston offices.

Most clients start with bi-weekly sessions and adjust as needed.

Out of pocket costs will vary depending on co-payment and number of nutrition counseling visits allowed annually by your health insurance carrier.

Your first session is the time we take to really get to know you and your experience with eating thus far.

We ask a lot of questions such as: what brings you to see us?

We also like to make sure we understand your medical history and any current conditions/symptoms you are managing.

Since eating behaviors go far beyond just nutrients, we will explore social, cultural, financial, and emotional factors that may have or still impact the way you feed yourself.

If time allows, we can provide some initial education and or discuss some action steps at an initial appointment. Often, we gather data about our client through several sessions.

Through follow up sessions we will together identify barriers and discuss changes you may want to consider making that will get you on a path to feeling good.

All of our dietitians do both!
